Ingredients:
சுரைக்காய் / Bottle gourd -1( medium size)
பச்சை மிளகாய் / Green chili- 2
கடுகு/ mustard- 1 tsp
சீரகம்/ Cumin/ jeera- 1 tsp
மஞ்சள் பொடி/ Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
மிளகாய் பொடி/ Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
சீரகப்பொடி/ Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
கொத்தமல்லிவிரை பொடி/ Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
பாசிப்பருப்பு / Moong dal-2 tbsp
உப்பு / Salt- to taste
கொத்தமல்லி / Coriander leaves- little
கருவேப்பிலை/ Curry leaves- little
எண்ணை/ oil- 2 tsp
தக்காளி / Tomato- 1
Method:
Wash & peel the skin of bottle gourd and cut in small pieces.
Wash & soak Moong dal and keep aside.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin, green chili & onion . Add tomato . Sauté for 2 minutes. Add salt & Bottle gourd to that. Mix well. Add cumin, coriander powder, turmeric & chili powder to that and mix nicely. Add soaked dal & water to that . Close the pan with lid and keep it for 2 whistles.
Our bottle gourd Kootu will be ready to serve . Add Coriander leaves on top and serve. Enjoy Ranjis flavours!
