Ingredients:
புடலங்காய் / Snake gourd- 1/2 kg
தேங்காய் / Grated coconut- 1 cup
வேக வைத்த துவரம்பருப்பு / Cooked tuvar dal - 1/2 cup
கடுகு/ mustard- 1/2 tsp
உளுத்தம்பருப்பு / Ulad dal - 1 tsp
சிகப்பு மிளகாய் / Red chilli- 3
சீரகம் / Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
கருவேப்பிலை / Curry leaves- little
ஊற வைத்த அரிசி/ Soaked rice - 1 tsp
Method:
Wash and cut snake gourd in thin slices. Place it in a cooker and cook for 1 whistle.
Heat 2 tsp of oil in tadka pan.
Add Ulad dal, Jeera & red chilli and fry. Cool and grind it with grated coconut , soaked rice into a paste in blender.
After cooking the snake gourd
Open the lid and add coconut paste & cooked dal to that and mix it nicely. Keep it for 1 boil and switch off the flame.
Heat 1 tsp of oil in a tadka pan for tempering. Add mustard, ulad dal & curry leaves and pour on top of Kootu and serve. This is v tasty with rice. Our snake gourd Kootu is ready!
