Kara Vadai / கார வடை / Kara kunukku / Kara vadai recipe / Crispy Kara Kunukku recipe

Ingredients: இட்லி அரிசி / Idly rice or boiled rice - 1 cup கடலைப்பருப்பு / Bengalgram- 1/2 cup உளுத்தம்பருப்பு / Black lentil / Ulad dal - 1/4 cup துவரம்பருப்பு / Tuvar dal - 1/4 cup உப்பு / Salt - to taste சிகப்பு மிளகாய் / Red chili- 4 to 5 ( we can take more chilli as per taste) பெருங்காயம் / Asafoetida- 1/2 tsp வெந்தயம் / Methi seeds- 1/4 tsp தேங்காய் / Coconut- 2 tbsp எண்ணை/ oil - to fry கருவேப்பிலை / Curry leaves- little Method: Wash rice, all dal & soak it for 2 hrs. After 2 hrs , grind rice, red chili, Methi, salt, asafoetida, curry leaves coarsely. Then add all dal and grind in a blender. Now our batter is ready and rest it for 1/2 an hour. Before frying the vadai add grated coconut and mix nicely. Heal oil in a Kadhai. Fry all the batter with a spoon or by hand in a small balls till it becomes brown in color. Our Kara vadai is ready to serve with tomato ketchup. It is crispy outside & soft inside. This is a very good snack & tasty one.
