Ranjis Flavours: வாழைப்பூ பருப்பு உசிலி / Banana flower Toor dal curry / vazhaipoo paruppu usili


Ingredients: வாழைப்பூ / Small banana flower - 1 To grind: துவரம்பருப்பு / Toor Dal - 1 cup உப்பு / Salt - To taste சிவப்பு மிளகாய் / Red chilli- 5 பெருங்காயம் / Asafoetida- 1/2 tsp கடுகு / Mustard seeds - 1 tsp உளுத்தம்பருப்பு / Black gram splits - 1 tsp கருவேப்பிலை / Curry leaves- 2 tsp மஞ்சள் பொடி / turmeric powder - 1 tsp எண்ணை / Oil - as per requirement Method: Take out the banana flower and remove the stem at the center , cut , and keep in curd mixed water . We can do this the previous day and keep. Grind Toor dal, salt, asafoetida coarsely in a mixer and keep separate. Mix 2 tsp of oil in that .Steam this dal mixture and banana flower separately in cooker for 15 to 20 minutes. When it is done , take out and drain the water in banana flower completely. Heat oil in Kadhai , add mustard seeds, ulad dal , curry leaves and add the dal mixture , and turmeric powder in that. After 5 minutes of stirring it becomes separate like Upma.( as we have added 2 tsp of oil in that before boiling the dal mixture). Then add banana flower, and little salt to that and mix nicely so that it becomes one into a nice consistency. Add curry leaves on the top and our Banana toor dal curry is ready to eat.
