Ranjis flavours: Mangai Pachadi / Sweet Mango (pachadi/ Raita) / Raw mango Pachadi




Ingredients:

மாங்காய் / Raw mango- 1

வெல்லம் / Jaggery- 1/4 cup

ஏலக்காய் பொடி / Cardomom powder - 1/2 tsp

நெய் / Ghee - 2 tsp

கடுகு / Mustard- 1/2 tsp

உளுத்தம்பருப்பு / split black gram- 1/2 tsp

சீரகம் / Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

சிவப்பு மிளகாய் / Red chilli- 1

வேப்பம்பூ / Neem flowers - 1 tsp

உப்பு / Salt - To taste

மஞ்சள் பொடி / Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Method:

Peel Raw Mango  and cut in thin slices. Powder jaggery.

Keep sliced mango pieces in a vessel with water .cook with salt and turmeric powder. When it cooks add jaggery and cook till it becomes a thick consistency.

Add cardomom powder and keep aside. Heat ghee in a pan . Add mustard. When it crackles add split black gram and cumin ( jeera ) , red chili and neem flowers. Fry them and pour in mango Sweet Pachadi. Our mango sweet Pachadi is ready to serve.

This is a special receipe of south India and made on Tamil New Year day. We have all 6 tastes in this mango Pachadi which denotes for all good and bad happenings in our life and pray God to keep our mind in balance and lead a happy life in forthcoming new year .
