Ingredients:
Preparation of batter for idly:
இட்லி அரிசி/Idli rice- 4 cups
உளுந்தம்பருப்பு / Ulad dal-1 cup
வெந்தயம் / Fenugreek-1 tsp
Wash & soak rice & Ulad dal for 5 to 6 hrs. Soak fenugreek separately. Grind rice & dal with fenugreek separately nicely. Mix both together with salt. Ferment it for 8 hrs. Batter will be readin the morning. Pour the same in mini idly plates &!steam it for 10 minutes. Cool the same & take out all idlis & keep it.
Preparation of idly podi :
கடலைப்பருப்பு / Bengal gram-1 cup
உளுத்தம்பருப்பு / Ulad dal-2 cups
பெருங்காயம் / Asafetida- 1 tsp
எள் / Sesame- 1 cup
வர மிளகாய் / Red chili - 2 cups
எண்ணை / oil- 2 to 3 tsps for frying all dal
உப்பு / Salt - 1.5 tsps
Fry all dals & chili separately. Cool the same & grind coarsely & mix all with salt. After mixing again grind all in mixie to get a nice podi. Now the gun powder is ready.
To make mini Podi Idli :
தேங்காய் எண்ணை/ coconut Oil - 2 tsps
நல்லெண்ணை/ Sesame oil- 3 tbsps
கடுகு / Mustard-1 tsp
உளுத்தம்பருப்பு / Ulad dal- 1 tsp
கருவேப்பிலை / Curry leaves- little
பெருங்காயம் / Asafetida- 1/2 tsp
Method:
Heat both oil & add mustard & Ulad dal. Add asafetida & curry leaves. Add gun powder & Fry them. Then add prepared mini idlis & mix well so as to coat on all sides. Yummy & delicious mini Podi idlis are ready for travel & lunchbox. Enjoy Ranjis flavours!
