#karaurundai#karadumplings#dumplings #uppuurundai #ranjisflavours Ingredients: இட்லி அரிசி / Idly rice - 2 cups உளுந்து / Ulad dal - 1/4 cup உப்பு / Salt - to taste பெருங்காயம் / Asafetida- 1/2 tsp சிகப்பு மிளகாய் / Red chili - 4 to 5 ( as per taste) கருவேப்பிலை /Curry leaves - little எண்ணை / oil - 6 tbsps கடுகு / Mustard- 1 tbsp கடலைப்பருப்பு / Bengal gram- 2 tsps துருவிய தேங்காய் / Grated coconut- 🥥 1/2 coconut Method: Wash & soak idly rice & urad dal for 4 hrs. Soak red chili also with rice. Grind rice coarsely with chili & curry leaves. Then add urad dal & grind with water (1.5 cups) Keep the batter in a separate bowl. Heat a pan. Add oil & mustard. When it pops add Bengal gram. Then add grated coconut & fry. After it fries add 2.5 cups of water & let it boil. Then add the prepared batter and mix well. Keep the flame on medium and mix it until it becomes thick. As we are going to steam this, we can make half-cooked batter. Cover with a lid for 3 minutes and cook. Switch off the flame and keep it covered for 3 minutes. Once it's cooled, mix the batter nicely without lumps to make a soft dough. Make small dumplings out of that and keep them. Prepare the steamer and cook the dumplings for 10 minutes on medium flame. After 10 minutes take out the dumplings & serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar or brinjal gotsu. This will be the best side dish for Kara Urundai.
